Hey ladies...wait until you are in your third trimester!!! Then you will know being uncomfortable.

When I started getting cramps and restless legs, it was suggested that I take magnesium tables (between 300mg and 400mg) daily. This has helped unbelievably. Hot milk and camomile tea may also relax you before you go to sleep.

Good luck and hope you can manage to rest before bub arrives.
References :
I'm the same way, though I'm not as far along as you (I'm 3 months). In bed at night I'm constantly tossing and turning and can't seem to get comfortable. During the day I'm really fidgety, always having to be moving at least one part of my body (usually my feet, sometimes my hands). It gets really annoying, and I know others around me notice because they comment on it. I'm not sure what to tell you about how to stop it, since I can't stop it myself. My restlessness personally I think is because I was on anti-anxiety medication before I got pregnant and when I found out I was pregnant I stopped taking it. The medicine kept me calm and still, and I think now that I'm not on it my anxiety is causing me to be quite fidgety. At night, try using a body pillow to sleep. I've found them to be particularly comfortable. Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you. Mention it to your doctor at your next visit.
References :
I have that too. Constant twitching. Midwife said iron usually helps so if you can get your hands on some suppliments of iron if should ease up :-) I found just snacking on dried apricots helped a bit. Also good iron source is spinach.
References :
pregnant

*You can tell the people giving advice has never had RLS. I have it and it gets bad every night. Get some tylenol arthritis and pop 2 pills at least one hour before bedtime. This helps me a lot. They have no idea what causes RLS. It is not low iron, getting off of any meds or any of that crap. Mine get so bad that I move constantly and never get to sleep. When I take the tylenol arthritis is calms me down so I can rest all night long. I feel for you as I know what you are going threw since I go threw it as well. It has taken me years to find a solution. So benefit from my research.
References :
RLS patient

Have you recently stopped taking an anti-depressant or anti-psychotic or mood stabilizer? They often don't ask you these questions at the doctor's office, but it's a cause of temporary RLS that will go away, albeit painfully after a week or two of sleepless agony and delirium.
References :
Low iron is one reason. Another is early chronic venous insufiency. Restless legs may be your first early sign. I would get your iron levels checked and get it to the higher end of normal range.
References :
http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/vascular/diseases/cvi.html

I've had it my whole life. Gentle stretching before bed can help. It's considered a sleep disorder. If it's really causing you distress and lack of sleep, there are drugs now...but of course they have side-effects, so you need to talk to a doctor and decide if it's worth it to you.
References :
Let us be accurate. It is not a disease. It is a syndrome.

My wife has suffered with this for years. It obviously has the capability to impact on my sleep as well as hers, so it is in my interest to find a management tool.

To this end I have investigated and tried a variety of remedies, after taking advice from experts at our local pain clinic.

The problem is that conventional pain killers do not work.

I have found three effective controls, to foreshorten and limit attacks:

1. Massage: Leg and thigh massage can and does reduce the irritant factor.

2. Freeze spray, or co-codamol gel. The freeze spray is an effective remedy, permitting the sufferer to get to sleep. Once asleep, the effects tends to be muted. The co-codamol gel is also effective.

3. TENS and ENS machines can also help. Using the TENS machine, with the pads placed on or close to the hip joints can obscure the pain signals. It takes some practice to find the most effective spots, but it is a powerful tool in combating the syndrome. I use a more sophisticated (and expensive) unit, which delivers two separate programs through 4 pads. This permits separate control at each hip.

The ENS (Electronic Nerve Stimulator) is a more localised control tool. If your attacks start in the same localised spot, then application of this useful little tool can nip the attack in the bud. Several applications can ward of further attacks for several days, if not weeks. I use this device for other pain control situations.

Now You will find that these remedies do not work all the time. They tend to be effective for a period of time and then, inexplicably fail. Therefore cycling the treatments is necessary, to maintain control.

Combinations of treatment are also very powerful. I generally start with TENS, or ENS and, at bedtime massage gel into my wife's legs and thighs. This always allows her to get to sleep and most of the time provide full relief....... although temporary.........

During the day, walk it off.
References :
IIf you have been to the doctor why didnt he order you some restless leg medicine. I take Requip every night for mine. It works for me. If my feet get cold, they tend to jump more. Sometimes I go to bed with socks on because they are cold and then lose them thru the night. LOL! Hope this helps.
References :
One very simple thing you could try:

When your legs start acting funny, go stand barefoot on a cold, hard floor such as the bathroom tiles. Two or three minutes should be enough.

This is what I do when I have muscle cramps in my calf muscles. I have no idea why it works, but it does!
